"The Sacred-Name Movement" by Robert Gorelik
The Sacred Name Movement (SNM) is a movement in Christianity that seeks to conform Christianity to its Hebrew Roots in practice, belief, and worship.
The SNM accepts the Apostolic Writings and Yeshua as the Messiah. However, the name spelled "Jesus" is seen as either a badly corrupted transliteration of the Messiah's true name or as a pagan-influenced name.
In either case, the SNM (which arose in the early 20th century out of the Adventist movement) mistakenly emphasizes the utterance and/or application of God’s Sacred-Name (which is unpronounceable) to activities with some sort of magical or superstitious effect.
We will talk about the many mistaken (although curiously “acceptable”) pronunciations of God’s Name and how the Jewish people in Biblical and Apostolic times referred to God without profaning His Name.
