Below is another email I wanted to share with you. It comes from The Jewish National Fund.
On Monday, one-third of the American Studies Association’s (ASA) 3,800 members voted in favor of a boycott of Israel’s academic and research institutions. They follow the smaller Association for Asian American Studies which approved a similar boycott last spring, and now the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association has followed suit.
The ASA vote should be a loud wake-up call that anti-Israel sentiment on campuses today is rising. This boycott follows a dangerous precedent set in the darkest times of the 20th century. This is an attack on democracy, an attack on freedom.
Israeli-produced innovations make the world a better place. Can you imagine a world without access to laptops, cellphones, medical technology and life-saving pharmaceuticals? When you boycott Israeli research, you boycott these innovations.
Take a stand. Tell them they can’t stop us.
We at Jewish National Fund know collaboration works. Our Caravan for Democracy mission participants say so. Watch the video below.
Take a stand. Show them their attempts to weaken us will only strengthen our resolve.
Take action. Here’s what you can do:
- Sign and send this letter to your University’s Dean and faculty members and to the President of the ASA at asastaff@theasa.net
- Use it as a letter to the editor for a school or community publication.
- Urge the ASA to end their boycott by posting this on Twitter:
End the @AmerStudiesAssn boycott of academic institutions in #Israel! #academicfreedom - Fund/bring a Positively Israel event to a university campus/bring students and academics to Israel so they can see the real Israel for themselves.
You can make a difference. Spread the word about how Israel really and truly makes the world a better place. The more you do, the weaker our adversaries get. Make a difference today. For more information on the issue, read the talking points issued by Israel on Campus Coalition.
